Las Salinas salt flats, Las Almoladeras bird sanctuary, Cabo de Gata lighthouse, Old gold mines in Rodalquilar, The Cortijo del Fraile The Huerbo fortress. Sorbas town of Iberian Origin situated above a Tributary of the rio de aguas, which its houses overhang. There is a reception centre for visitors to visit the rural tourism adventure caves.

At the nearby Tabernas desert you can visit the Mini Hollywood which was used as the location for the filming of many spaghetti western movies. Many of the film sets have been preserved and are opened for visitors.

Almeria Cathederal is a grand 16th century building built in place of the former Cathedral that was destroyed in a great earthquake. It is beautiful in its Gothic-renaissance style and has a fortress like apperanace after suffering pirate raids. The great altar is home to some priceless artworks and features magnificent decorations of marble and jasper.

Almeria has many museums and art galleries including the Morera Art Museum and Provincial Archeological Museum. The Archeological Museum has many Bronze Age exhibits, Iberian and Roman ceramics, statues and epigraphy. It also houses an intriguing collection of archeological remains from Almerias's history.

The Old Town of Almerimar is also well worth a visit to sample traditional Spanish life amongst white washed houses, narrow winding streets, medieval architecture and a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Almeria is also the location of many natural sights of interest and beauty. The Cuevas de Sorbas are highly interesting, spacious caves with amazing rock formations. Tours are available through the caves and you can even clip on a harness and go searching for hidden caverns and treasures.

The Cabo de Gata National Park is a must see as it is Andulucia's largest coastal protected area of great beauty and ecological wealth. The area has many plants and wildlife as well as fantastic beaches with clear seas that are perfect for diving and snorkeling.
Handily placed between the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca, Almeria provides easy access to some of Spain's most popular resorts. Sight seeing in Almeria is a must. The Alcazaba is a Moorish fortress which is part ruins but provides great examples of towers, baths and dungeons from its medieval past. The highest point provides great panoramic views of the city's cave quarter.
